Been Playing Dragon's Dogma (PC)

This game is beautiful and runs super smooth
Dragon's Dogma is a great game so far. Being about 30 hours into it I still feel as though I have not even scratched the surface. The game is a bit old, as it has been out on consoles for a while, even so, the graphical quality is still superb on the PC release. The soundtrack, voice acting and sound effects are well done.

On recommended gamma, night time is very dark,
get that gamma setting ready!
The storyline, although quite standard, is good enough to keep you pushing ahead. The game has you in the shoes of a character (created by you) whose heart is eaten by a dragon, so you are tasked with facing down thus said dragon, destroying him and getting your heart back. You also get to create a partner character, called a pawn, to help you out in battle. A cool thing about that is you can enlist other people's pawns they created to fill out your party of four. While this is a neat feature, I would have liked the option to create my entire party, but that's just me being picky. One thing I would like to note is that the pawns chatter can be very helpful...if I hear a pawn say they hear running water while we're waist deep in a stream again, I might just scream! I bet I have heard that goblins don't like fire and ice about a good 370 times also- not kidding. Thank goodness you can turn chatter off in the setting menu!

Even smashing crates in Dragon's Dogma feels fun
The world is absolutely gigantic which is both a pro and a con, as many quests have you going back and forth. A better waypoint system could have easily solved that issue. There is a full day-night system in place too, with the nights being annoyingly dark, so be prepared to turn up that gamma setting! But, lots of character customization, classes and skills to learn, make up for that in my book! They game is pretty difficult as well but in a good way. Though the combat can sometimes feel slow, it also feels very strategic for a real-time action RPG, and being able to climb up large monsters and stab their faces is also as awesome as it sounds.

Overall I am rather impressed with Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen (PC). Capcom did a brilliant job with this port, it runs buttery smooth and looks crisp and vibrant. It actually kind of feels like this was a PC game to begin with and not a port. You can pick up Dragon's Dogma on Steam, or find out more at Capcom's website.
