Been playing Batman Arkham Asylum

This game is actually pretty awesome, I was pleasantly surprised. The controls feel really nice, the graphics are quite nice and I love the joker taunting you and making crazy comments the whole way through. The story is decent enough and the combat feels great also.

Like I said I was so surprised when I loaded up this game to play as I generally don't go for regular beat'em ups, I prefer RPGs. However, this game is exceptional. First I was drawn in by the gritty, dark, realistic graphics. Then the storyline started to hook me. Then when I had my first combat encounter I was like "Oh yeah, this game is GOOD".

The game has kind of a Metroidvania  feel to it, which of course I love. What I mean by that is, for example, you might come to a wall that you can't pass, later on you will find something you need to destroy said wall, and now you have all these new areas to explore and find secrets in and so on. The controls feel great (on a gamepad anyhow, did not try mouse and keyboard). They are very responsive and I never feel like I failed because of poor controls.

The graphics, as stated, are top notch, with nice dark shadows and ultra high texture resolutions at a very decent framerate. The sound is fantastic and really lends to those stealthy moments, like when an enemy may have caught a glimpse of you and you quickly grapple up to the nearest gargoyle, and they start to yell things like, "Oh god, he could be anywhere" in utter terror, it's really satisfying!

Overall I think they done a fantastic job with this one, but of course it has it's flaws as well. Like sometimes if you are in an area for a while the joker will repeat the same lines over and over and over. Or like one of the Scarecrow scenes sent my frame rate to like 3 to 4 fps for no reason and I almost didn't make it through But I feel like those are pretty minor in light of everything else that's so good in this game. So what are your thoughts on this game?

You can get this game from Steam and lots of other outlets.
