Been playing Guild Wars 2

This is one game, I can say, I have very much a love hate relationship with. That may be because, I can see the potential in this would-be-awesome game. But the way it is currently executed, imo, seems flawed somehow and I can't tell you why really. Huge open world (some zoning but the maps are huge),check. Beautiful graphics and artwork, check. Great sound effect's and voices/music, check.
Dead-on responsive controls, check. Awesome story and lore, check.

Now,with all the things I like in this game I can't quite put my finger on why I can't really get into it.With 4 level 80 characters and one level 56 and a level 30, you must think, well apparently I was into it at one point, But thats really not true. I feel nothing for my characters, I could wipe them all and be fine with it. That may be the problem of why I can't seem to fully fall in love with this title. Although, I am not quite sure why I cant "bond" with my characters.

Maybe it's that none of them feel unique? So much so, that they feel almost homogenized. As in, they all feel like they can do the same as the other... Yeah yeah, the animations might change, but a bleed is a bleed, a poison is a poison, a regen is a regen and on and on. I really do appreciate that in PvP, however, as primarily a PvE player,it does not feel great. BUT, what about the class mechanics? They would be good, however most are weighed down by some heavy restriction, ie. the Necromancer's death shroud constantly drains, really quickly, and is reduced further by damage. But I will agree that some classes are useful. Another thing is, The attacks and such feel so bland and weak. You're sitting there getting one shotted by enemies and you have to hack and hack and hack until they finally die. Guess it's a good thing they have that extremely useless downed state, where you do like 1/15 (exaggeration) of the your already super weak damage. I'll pass and just insta-die and rez please.

Itemization feels pretty bad as well, like the difference between a cheap yellow(rare,I guess) and an expensive exotic (epic?) piece is only like 5 or 6 stat points.Eww, what is 5 or 6 points fixing to do?
I guess I am not really a min-maxer though, so another 0.003% damage fails to excite me. The armor pieces all look nearly the same whilst leveling up. There is nearly no difference in a level 25 piece and a level 45 piece. The level 45 might have a fringe on it and a couple new crinkles in the vest, Oh, and this is especially true with the weapons.

Yep, Level 80 looking like a level 45!

Now, what's good in Tyria? Definitely the scenery! They must have some of the most creative artists on their world team. From sweeping fields, to nice airy feeling mountain tops and towers. I almost never walk into a cave and it be mapped out the same as another cave I have been into. So, no "Copy-pasta" is great. The storyline is good too, and the world is constantly evolving and changing with each release of the living story (an episodic take on storytelling) which is very unique. The game is also literally over flowing with content. Even having all those high level characters, I bet you I have not seen hundreds and hundreds of the dynamic events in the game!

"What's good in Tyria? Definitely the scenery!"

Overall I just feel disappointed that this game was not the game for me. It's has such high quality and production value, and is made by the same folks that done one of my all time favorite games (Guild Wars 1) that I was just sure I was gonna be hooked. This game does try to have something for everyone and for the most part succeeds, but falls a bit short on the depth department. You can get Guild Wars 2 from here.

What do you guy's think about GW2? Let me know in the comments! See you next time!
